We don't pretend to get everything right. Crypto moves fast, and sometimes we'll be wrong or out of date. This page logs the things we've changed, out in the open — partly because we owe it to readers, and partly so you can judge for yourself whether this site takes accuracy seriously.

How we handle errors

• Mistakes that affect understanding or could mislead get fixed and logged here, with the date and what changed.
• Small fixes like typos or broken links aren't always listed one by one, but we still fix them promptly.
• For things that shift over time — fee rates, limits, waiting periods — we print the figure the official page showed, with the month we checked it, and point you to the live page as final. When we spot a figure that's gone stale, we update it and note it here.

Correction log

2026-10-14 · The withdrawal whitelist is no longer described as “withdrawals to listed addresses only”. The Gate withdrawal guide, the beginner guide and the account-security guide said that with the whitelist on, coins could only go to listed addresses and a hijacker couldn’t move them elsewhere; the security guide also mentioned a cooling-off period for new addresses. Gate’s help article on whitelisting withdrawal addresses describes an address book on the withdrawal page, with no list-only restriction and no cooling-off period; marking an address as trusted makes withdrawals to it skip the fund password and other checks, which is one check fewer if the account is compromised. The pages now say the address book saves you from pasting addresses by hand, beginners should leave the no-verification option off, and addresses are added automatically after a first successful withdrawal, so prune them now and then. A line in the is-Gate-safe page was adjusted too, and the other language versions were changed the same way.

2026-10-03 · The fees guide no longer says maker orders are always cheaper. The Gate fees article had a heading promising to explain why maker is cheaper and said maker orders sometimes earn a rebate. Gate's fee page (checked October 2026) shows spot maker and taker at the same rate from VIP0 to VIP3, 0.1% each at VIP0; the clear maker discount is on futures (USDT perpetuals at VIP0: 0.02% maker, 0.05% taker), and regular tiers get no maker rebate. The heading and text now follow the fee table, and the article gives the actual spot, futures and GT-deduction rates, the VIP thresholds and a worked example. The Chinese, Portuguese, Vietnamese and Filipino versions were changed too.

2026-10-03 · The sign-up guide no longer puts the fund password inside the registration form. The sign-up guide and the beginner guide said you set a fund password while registering. Gate's Security Setting Guide says the login password is set at registration and the fund password is set afterwards under Security Settings; setting or resetting it also suspends P2P trading and withdrawals for 24 hours. Both articles now describe it in that order, in every language.

2026-10-03 · KYC guide: an unsourced alternative removed. The KYC article said some regions offer a gesture photo or assisted manual review when the face check keeps failing. Gate's verification guide documents gesture recognition as the alternative and says nothing about assisted manual review. The article now names gesture recognition only, with the route Gate gives for it; the other language versions match.

2026-09-25 · Three C2C articles no longer teach memo wording as a way past bank checks. The beginner guide, the C2C buying guide and the deposit guide told readers to keep words like "crypto", "USDT" or "Bitcoin" out of the payment memo so the bank would not flag the transfer. That is advice on getting around risk controls, and it does not belong on this site. The pages now say to pay using the receiving details and instructions on the order page, fill the memo the way the order page and the Gate C2C trading rules say, and refuse if the other side asks for wording unrelated to the trade. The other steps are unchanged; the Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese and Tagalog versions were changed the same way.

2026-09-25 · "Is Gate safe?": an unsourced statistical claim removed. The piece said "statistically, the vast majority of retail losses" come from users falling for scams rather than from exchange hacks, without citing any statistics. It now says only that whether an exchange gets hacked is out of your hands while falling for a scam is not, with no claim about which happens more often. The list of scam patterns that follows is unchanged.

2026-06-21 · Site launched. First batch of content published. Any corrections from here on will be listed below in reverse chronological order.

2026-06-21 · Fee wording standardized. We went through every passage touching fees and discount rates and switched them all to "whatever Gate's fee page shows at the time," with a check date — so we're not pinning down exact numbers that are bound to change.

2026-06-21 · Withdrawal warnings reinforced. Across the articles that cover picking a chain for withdrawals, we added a consistent reminder that on-chain transfers are usually irreversible and that you should test with a small amount first — to cut the risk of a costly beginner slip.
